Purpose

To provide a guide on how to get your money back or reschedule your travel plans.


Flights

  1. Do not preemptively cancel your flight, wait to see if the airline cancels and the request a refund.

  2. If your flight is not going to cancel you may be allowed to voluntarily change your travel plans without any fees.

  3. Look online for your travel needs unless you're scheduled to fly within 72 hours, the airlines are requesting you refrain from calling. (Links will be provided below)

  4. Please read all of the fine print before making any changes.

Helpful advice

I recommend at least sending an email or direct message to the correct department stating that you would like a refund for a canceled flight or that you wish to cancel your reservation. Include your confirmation number and itinerary including flight numbers. The hold times could be hours when calling, you may find it difficult to actually talk to a person. It is good to have an email or paperwork with a date and timestamp for future reference.

If you booked with an online travel agency such as Expedia or Orbitz, you will need to contact them directly in order to process any refunds or flight changes. Refund policies vary for flights booked with online travel agencies please read the agency's policy for details.
